V1.2 – What has Changed? Mike Phillips, Program

Abstract
This
presentation describes the current state of CMMI Adoption around the world, and
then describes the V1.2 update of CMMI to simplify the model and better address
key elements like IPPD. Emphasis will be on the specific changes to the goals
and practices, as these are the ones most important to future measures of
progress.
It
will also cover a high level look at the Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for
Process Improvement (SCAMPI) V1.2. The strategic direction of the CMMI Project
will also be addressed, including future expansions to include services and
acquisition. Current status of the two new “constellations” will also be
included. An extended version of the talk will be supplied to give attendees
more access for those needing more detail for transition.
About the Presenter
Mike
Phillips is the Program Manager for CMMI at the Software Engineering Institute
(SEI), a position created to lead the Capability Maturity Model* Integration
[CMMI®] teams for the SEI. He was previously responsible for Transition
Enabling activities at the SEI. He has authored Technical Reports, Technical Notes,
CMMI Columns, and various articles in addition to presenting CMMI material at
conferences around the world.
Prior to his retirement as a colonel from the Air Force, he managed the $36B development program for the B-2 in the B-2 SPO and commanded the 4950th Test Wing at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. In addition to his bachelor's degree in Astronautical Engineering from the Air Force Academy, Mike has masters degrees in Nuclear Engineering from Georgia Tech, in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and in International Affairs from Salve Regina College and the Naval War College.
